Home Sales Gems Long term versus short term

|
Ugly Duckling stresses the importance of the long term. We urge you to put relationship first, suggest you do not take advantage of a client's misfortune and that you resist the urge for instant gratification (what is good) in favour of an 'all things considered' approach (what is best). Ugly Duckling says:Without the present, there can be no future!
'All things considered' isn't intended as a command, it is meant to enable. When it comes to ability there is no place like the here and now. If need be, nothing should stop you from immediate action. Not even the idea that you 'should' be looking for what is best. So applied as a command, looking for what is 'best' might actually stands in the way of doing what is best. Then how do you decide whether to act or consider? At the risk of creating the ultimate excuse here, the distinction we are looking for is immediacy. Immediacy signifies urgency and importance in a deadlock of 'it's now or never'. This doesn't mean immediacy makes 'right', i.e. it is not a justification in itself! As an option immediacy enables, that is all. The consequences of your actions are still your responsibility and yours alone. What does it all mean? It means you look at the short term with the long term in mind. It means you build relationships and make more money in the process. It means business becomes a consequence and with higher profits. It means that you do whatever it takes unless it jeopardizes the overall outcomes that you are looking to achieve. Consider all things in everything you aspire and you will find flow in every direction you look. Immediacy will soon be a rare occurrence, if not a relic of the past. |
